ASID Project "Give-a-Hug" with Little Friends, Inc. of Naperville

An entrepreneurial spirit is often partnered with the desire to give back to the community and Past Basket Cares is a side of our business that brings important change to those around us. In Fall of 2015 PB Kitchen Design President, Dan McFadden joined “Project Give-a-Hug” of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Members of the committee volunteer together to identify worthy projects where design and material resources are needed in a local community. Areas of improvement that can make a difference in people’s lives. little-friends-logo-50 The committee saw an opportunity with Little Friends, Inc. in Naperville. A private, non-profit organization that serves children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, Little Friends has been transforming lives since 1965. The “Project Give-a-Hug” committee visited the Little Friends main facility and decided they needed an updated kitchen and a new reception area. The committee identified the scope of project, which included a complete kitchen remodel of everything - flooring, cabinets, appliances, etc. The kitchen is used daily by dozens of people at Little Friends – both employees and clients alike. The new reception area will feature a high quality reception desk and all new flooring. LF_Kitchen_View_East Work on the project is in full swing as demolition started mid-January.
“This project has been funded almost 100% from donations and the Gives Back team has been working for months to put our plan together.” explained Dan. “As the project manager, I am excited to see the plan come together.”
This is the first big assignment for Project Give-a-Hug of the ASID in 2016 and future initiatives could include more than just kitchen remodels.
