5 ways to create your own Bespoke kitchen

Everyone is using the word “Bespoke” nowadays. If you Google the term, you’ll find Bespoke kitchen, Bespoke cuisine, Bespoke hats, Bespoke software, Bespoke investment groups… But what does the term really mean? Bespoke originally came from master tailors in England in the 17th & 18th century who created made-to-order goods for royalty and the elite upper class that were fitted specifically for the human form. The definition of upper class society was evident based on the quality of tailoring your wardrobe featured, and if your stitching was purposefully made for you. So, too, a Bespoke kitchen has a similar definition and truly is what PB Kitchen Design is all about. Designed with you in mind, a tailored kitchen has the ability to transform your living space into a place that defines your every nuance.

Here are 5 ways to create your own Bespoke kitchen:

#1 – Start with the cabinets.

Investing in the cabinets is like investing in a fine-tailored Italian suit or statement piece of jewelry from Bvlgari  – it never goes out of style and you’ll keep (and love) it forever.

#2 – Look for opportunities to use tile.

Design consultant and tile specialist Donna Slesser at DeSitter Flooring in LaGrange, says Bespoke “tailor made” kitchens from a tile and stone point of view are extremely popular with her customers.
“Clients are reflecting their function, style, and own design when selecting their flooring and backsplash. We are seeing the market going in the direction of hand-painted custom patterns with relief and beautiful designs of ceramic tile.”
Donna also shares that her clients are matching china patterns or a favorite damask fabric is increasingly gaining momentum in tile projects, and the arabesque and chevron patterns continue to be on trend.
“DeSitter Tile & Stone Gallery is fortunate to carry some of the more unique tile lines currently seen in the market and the upcoming Coverings Show,” says Donna.

#3 – Seek out interesting light fixtures.

(PS - our sister shop, Past Basket Milwaukee, features both Juliska and American-made Simon Pearce, both who create glass pendants.)

#4 – Look to your own wardrobe.

Whether you welcome the unorthodox when it comes to life or play it safe, your kitchen can be a place of refuge from the world. And, a place you never want to leave because it reflects the elements of your personality so well, it’s like a life-long friend.

#5 – Cater to your obsessions.

Is that morning cup of coffee what makes your day? Create a beverage station in your kitchen. A kitchen remodel is an exciting process and a fantastic opportunity to really create your own Bespoke life. We don’t use templates around here, and if we think in terms of made-to-order, a synonymous term is luxury. A specialty in our mind, the idea of a Bespoke kitchen is the definition of what a kitchen remodel should be – truly getting the “royal treatment.” Save
