White Traditional Kitchen in Wheaton, Illinois

This kitchen for a family of five in Wheaton, IL combines the amenities of a high tech kitchen with all the warmth and storage to meet their daily needs. This space has clearly defined areas, which all blend seamlessly together. Open for entertaining, yet perfect for small family gatherings, this bright white kitchen provides a welcoming hub for this home.

Open concept yet cozy.

An open concept custom kitchen lives large but the strategic placement of appliances creates a convenient and compact work zone.  This distinctly divided yet beautifully merged kitchen takes the classic white to another level. The clean lines of the flat panel white cabinetry and polished design are easy on the eyes, complemented by the earth tones found in the subway tile, pendant lighting over the island, and soft seating and cushy sofas that flow beautifully into the adjoining space.

Family focus.

This large family can enjoy multiple seating areas, around the island, and at a dedicated space showcasing their impressive farm table. More than ample accessible storage provides enough places to hide any pots, pans and small appliances, while not sacrificing the views and natural light. The midpoint integrated built in Thermador Refrigerator serves as the anchor of the kitchen. Prep areas include miles of quartz counters along with a small but practically placed island sink. The warmth and comfort in this dream kitchen highlights design trends while also fulfilling the client’s request for a kitchen with a family focus.

Generous space

The room has a large scale at 500 square feet (not including the breakfast nook). Combined with the 10′ ceilings and the long list of appliances and storage requirements from the client, designing this space was a challenge we long for in all our commissioned projects.

Power appliances.

The column refrigerator and freezer were a must. We opted not to stack the ovens within the tall cabinet run on the kitchen’s short wall. Instead, the under-counter placement of the dual fuel Thermador range opposite the island is convenient for our client and was key to maintaining a millwork feel around the room. The six-burner range top and griddle is well-suited to the client’s performance needs and perfectly sized to match the custom steel hood above it.

Room with a view.

Don’t overlook the importance of a view! An abundance of natural light can be enjoyed throughout this kitchen with not one but two sets of windows, that illuminate the kitchen and surrounding living spaces, making even the daily dish routine more enjoyable.
